Introduction
The ESN Curriculum for Training in Neonatology (syllabus) in Europe has been developed to support national training programmes. In order to improve transparency of the European countries´ national guidelines for subspecialist training in neonatology, we created this database.

National Programmes
The European Society for Neonatology (ESN) has collaborated with the European  Association of Perinatal Medicine (EAPM) and the Union of European Neonatal and Perinatal Societies (UENPS) to create an overview of the European countries´ national programmes for subspecialty training in neonatology.

We have used the ESN Syllabus and curriculum as a backbone for the detailed country-specific description of the national training programmes.

Perspective
The improved insight into the countries´national subspecialist training programmes in neonatology aims at establishing internationally acceptable and clearly defined standards of knowledge and skills needed to practice neonatology at a tertiary care level.

We hope thereby to facilitate harmonisation of the national training programmes and foster the development of a European network of tertiary care centres for neonatology.
